Thirty years of oilfield related experience living and working in several Middle Eastern counties and through out South East Asia including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and recently Vietnam.

Mainly involved with Drilling and Directional Drilling both as an offshore operator and in management onshore with several multinational companies including, Dowell/Anadrill Schlumberger, and Smith International.

In April 1992 along with Yannie Peart founded Asia Pacific Drilling Services Pte. Ltd. based in Singapore with the main goal of establishing a service, support organization for the then fledgling oil and gas drilling industry in Vietnam.

Since this date we have expanded to a multi service and manufacturing organization employing over 40 mainly Vietnamese personnel serving all of the major Vietnamese based oil companies along with the associated drilling rig and service subcontractors.

 In 2004 APDS Vietnam Limited was established as a 100 percent Foreign Invested Enterprise a wholly owned entity of Asia Pacific Drilling Services in Singapore, which is now our vehicle for carrying out the above activities in Vietnam.

Yannie, formerly of the Philippines was prior to marriage in 1980 employed in Iran as an Engineering Coordinator for a large underground cabling project and is very much the consummate Expatriate.

Following her marriage she lived in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia where her language skills and assistance to other expatriate wives was very much appreciated.

In 1992 when Yannie and I founded Asia Pacific Drilling Services in Singapore, Yannie was an essential part of our office organization and attended to all the day to day administrative details to enable us to function efficiently and professionally in Singapore and Vietnam.

In 1993-94, Yannie also assisted greatly in establishing our presence in Vung Tau, Vietnam including dealing with the People’s Committee and Petrovietnam, training our local office staff, assisting foreign oil companies, local authorities to set up import/export procedures, customs procedures, and also assisting the local expatriate community in many ways such as schooling and general living requirements.

Ly joined the company in May 1995 as a Secretary and has since, through endeavour, English language skills, computer skills, and drive became an essential part of APDS.

Ly gained much experience when APDS in their role as Santa Fe’s Vietnam representative imported and exported several offshore drilling units including third party equipment, spare parts, and drilling crews.

Her abilities in expediting import/export formalities, customs clearance, visa, crew changes, general logistic matters, and dealing with all local and government organizations have become well known in the local oil and gas industry. 

Through the efforts of Ms Ly and Mrs Yannie, APDS now have a very good working relationship with all of the oil companies’ logistic departments operating in Vietnam.

Landz, is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering and joined APDS in September 2006. In this time he has trained on and operated many offshore services including: King Post Tie Back, Annulus Fill-up Pipeline, Diverter/Fill Up Pipeline, Tensioner Flatform, Well Test Pipeline, Cooling Pipeline, Flareboom and Filtration Systems.

Also involved in Design, Survey, Installation & Fabrication of Batch Mixer, Acid Tanks, 5 & 11 Slot Template, Centralisers, Well Head Protection, Corrosion Cap,Offshore Baskets/Containiers.

He has also completed training and use of computer design program such as Autocadd, STAADPRO, CADRA, Solid Works.

In addition Landz has overseen our quality control system along with in house NDT Level 2 and Load Test functions.

As APDS has grown Landz, in his short period with APDS, has engineered and supervised many of the projects listed in this site and has been instrumental in enhancing this company’s reputation as a company that follows international standards of quality and professionalism.

Ngan, joined APDS in April 2002 and has since become an indispensable member of our staff.

Her expertise and personality have contributed largely to the success of APDS in securing work in all of our sales efforts.

Additionally Ngan has become very efficient and professional in answering ITB’s and preparing tender documents on behalf of our principals and clients.

Ngan is also in charge of preparing our sales literature, brochures and presentations and has helped prepare seminars in the Vietnam Petroleum Institute, Hanoi.
